Born and raised in Hastings, New Zealand, Nathan moved to Australia in 1989 to finish high school. He was drawn to tattooing from an early age - seeing his older brother and mates covered heavily in tattoos in his youth introduced Nathan to the respected art of Ta Moko. This inspired him to become a professional tattooist and he dedicated himself to learning the craft and art of tattoo. Having mates with skin to spare and faith in his artwork set him on the path to develop the style and quality of tattooing that he is known for today. Regular trips back and forth to New Zealand also kept him in tune with his Maori art.

He decided in 1992 to take his art seriously and make tattooing his fulltime occupation. He made Sydney his permanent base in1996 after accepting a job with the well-known tattoo artist Kiwi Kim and stayed on there for four years building a loyal clientele. In 1999 he moved to Innervision Tattoo in Surry Hills to work with Cliffe Clayton for six years. It was after this move that he feels his art and client base really became established.

Fascinated by all asian art - in particular modern Japanese tattooing – Nathan is building quite a reputation for his large Japanese work – large back pieces and full sleeves. He’s highly capable in a wide variety of styles, including incredible black and grey portraiture work, in which he is continually striving for perfection.

By incorporating all these cultural influences in his work and having a keen eye for a contemporary edge, Nathan has become a respected and well-known artist throughout Sydney and indeed, Australia at large.
